Resumo: Introduction: Inadequate eating practices are considered a risk factor for chronic diseases and Food and Nutrition Education has been shown to be an effective strategy for the adoption of healthy eating habits. The objective was to systematize scientific knowledge about the effectiveness of food and nutrition education strategies for adults. Mehods: A search for articles was carried out in May 2022 in the Science Direct, PubMed and Capes Periodicals databases, with the controlled descriptors in health: "Food and nutrition education" AND "effectiveness" AND "adult", published in the last five years old. Results: The sample consisted of 18 articles and it was found that the interventions implemented were 83% effective (n=15), 11% partially effective (n=2) and 6% promising (n=1). Multicomponent actions, with psychological, behavioral and practical approaches, combined with the use of technology proved to be effective. Conclusion: It is necessary to continue with food and nutrition education actions as well as well-structured public food access policies so that nutritional recommendations are followed.
