Resumo: The article presents some key milestones in the struggle for the attainment of a Catalan school, within the creation of the Spanish educational system, highlighting the conflicts and problems between the Spanish and Catalan models in relation to the role they give to the school in construction: of their national citizenship -Spanish or Catalan. First, it presents a historical overview of the first attempts to build a Catalan educational system. He then points out some milestones inthis construction until the end of the Civil War and an analysis of the Franquista school and an analysis of the role played by the Catalan Pedagogical Renewal Movement in the recovery of democracy and, with it, the Catalan school during the Franco regimeand in the first years of the democratic transition.

En primer lugar presenta una panorámica histórica de los primeros intentos de construir un sistema educativo catalán. A continuación, señala algunos hitos en esta construcción hasta el final dela Guerra Civil y una analice de la escuela franquista y con un análisis del papel que jugó el Movimiento de Renovación Pedagógico catalán en la recuperación de la democracia y, con ella, de la escuela catalana durante el franquismo y en los primeros años de la transición democrática.O artigo apresenta alguns marcos importantes da luta pela conquista de uma escola catalã, na criação do sistema educacional espanhol, destacando os conflitos e problemas entre os modelos espanhol e catalão em relação ao papel que eles atribuem à escola na construção de sua nacionalidade - os espanhóis ou os catalães. Primeiro, apresenta uma visão histórica das primeiras tentativas de construir um sistema educacional catalão. A seguir, ele aponta alguns marcos nessa construção até o final da Guerra Civil e uma análise da escola franquista e uma análise do papel desmpenhado pelo Movimento de Renovação Pedagógica Catalã na recuperação da democracia e, com ela, a escola.
