Since the beginning of the history of Ituiutaba, pharmacies are present as important establishments for the population, mainly in what concerns to the care of the residents. Throughout history, many changes have occurred in the pharmacy sector, such as the presence of a professional pharmacy during the period that the commercial establishment is open to the public, a new commercial model due to the competitive market, modern and imposing layouts and, in Ituiutaba, was no different. The objective of this study was to analyze the changes that have occurred in the pharmacy sector in the municipality throughout history, analyzing these aspects, thereby identifying the old pharmacies, identifying old personalities, who enriched this study and contributed to the development of this sector, at different times. According to the methodological procedure, bibliographic research was done on the subject, in addition to five interviews with people who worked, or still work in the pharmacy sector in the city. The results showed that the transformations that took place in this branch were representative throughout history and today, in relation to pharmacies and drugstores, Ituiutaba presents a diversified scenario, contemplating from this the small family establishments of equity, to stores belonging to the great retail chains of the country.
