Resumo: | Summary: The triple workday faced by women entrepreneurs is complex and challenging, reflecting multiple daily responsibilities, household chores, childcare, which can affect quality of life and mental health, especially burnout. Female entrepreneurs, in addition to the triple workday, face gender-related barriers, sexism, difficulty in accessing credit, lack of entrepreneurial training, and support networks. The overall objective of the study is to understand the interplay of the triple workday and burnout in female entrepreneurs. Method: Convenience sampling was used to select eight women entrepreneurs from different sectors, all of whom were married and had children. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and content analysis (Bardin, 2011), analysis of units of meaning (Moreira et al., 2005), and Qualitative Synthesis (Major & Savin-Baden 2010) were performed. Main results: Analysis of the participants' speech corpus revealed five categories representing their experiences: “lack of support network”, "less suffering from labor conditions", "exhaustion", "lack of entrepreneurial training"and "family-work conflict”. The most cited category was exhaustion, referring to a feeling of physical and emotional overload due to the demands of balancing work, family responsibilities, and the inherent challenges of entrepreneurship. Women often reported feeling drained due to the pressure of managing multiple roles, which can negatively affect their mental health and quality of life. Discussion: The data highlight the undeniable presence of the triple female workday, with unfavorable conditions and wage disparities. For women entrepreneurs, this complex challenge impacts mental health and quality of life. The intertwining of burnout, gender, and entrepreneurship underscores the importance of gender-sensitive policies and structural support to address the specific challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, requiring further research to deepen relationships, especially among vulnerable or minority women. The triple workday, associated with the risk of burnout, underscores the urgency of solutions that promote gender equality and balance in women's responsibilities, aiming to promote a healthier work environment for women. |
