Expectativas quanto ao curso de Ciências Contábeis: uma percepção de ingressantes

When identifying integration difficulties in university students and possible consequences such as withdrawal, discussed in previous studies, there was a need to understand the main expectations that students have when they start college. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the expectations of students from an undergraduate course in Accounting Sciences at a public university. It used the Questionnaire of Academic Perceptions-Expectations (QPA-EXP), evaluating seven dimensions of academic expectations, proposed and validated by Almeida, Costa e Araújo (2017). This study considered a sample of 60 students from the first period of the undergraduate degree, male and female, and those who study full time or only at night. In order to analyze the data collected, it used descriptive statistics technique. As main results, the students demonstrated that they have high expectations in aspects related to professional qualification and career, personal and social development, and quality in education. It is concluded that students access higher education with their expectations focused on obtaining a good education to access the labor market and build their professional career.
