The knowledge of ways to take advantage of technological tools in an innovative way in the civil engineering is essential for increasingly profitable and context-appropriate projects in which they will be inserted. This study consisted of merging knowledge of Information Technology Information and Real Estate Market to elucidate the database management process, the logic of extracting information from these and also sought a free tool solution that helps designers to extract inputs to guide their ideas and decisions in the process of designing a real estate product. The tool chosen to be studied was Google Trends, which allows tracking the evolution of the number of searches on Google, for a given keyword over time. The purpose of the case study is to illustrate the use of Google Trends as a source of information that may interest a entrepreneur, in this case: what type of property (house or apartment) and the type of marketing (sale or rent) most sought after in a region of interest. In view of this, the city ​​of Uberlândia - MG will be used as the study region. From research carried out in Google Trends, considering the regions of Minas Gerais and Uberlândia, using a combination of keywords, we arrived at the result that, at all levels of research, terms containing “Rent” had a higher search volume, while terms containing that contained “House” were the most searched in 3 of the 5 comparisons made. So, despite of the construction of vertical condominiums of apartments to be an investment option scalable, it is interesting that the engineering professional who wants to launch a product real estate in Uberlândia also study well the market of houses for rent.
