Analysis of CAD and BIM software in the pedagogical projects of Architecture courses in Brazilian public institutions

Resumo: Since the end of the 20th century, the advent of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is expanding new possibilities for the design process with parametric project, digital fabrication, analysis, compatibility etc., especially in comparison to Computer-Aided Design (CAD). This has generated many expectations of changes both in professional performance and in the field of education. Therefore, this article aims to understand the current configuration of digital representation in public education in Architecture and Urbanism in Brazil in relation to the use of CAD and/or BIM platforms. To this end, the Pedagogical Course Projects (PPC) available on the respective websites were consulted and their disciplines were analyzed regarding the use of CAD and/or BIM platforms. It is possible to observe a significant number of courses whose subjects do not mention the BIM system or its software, as well as hybrid experiences and important approaches in this technological advance. It is understood that there is a need for greater reflection on BIM and its developments to support its introduction or update in the PPCs for Architecture and Urbanism.

Isso tem gerado muitas expectativas de mudanças tanto na atuação profissional quanto no campo do ensino. Portanto, este artigo tem como objetivo entender a atual configuração de representação digital no ensino público de Arquitetura e Urbanismo no Brasil em relação ao uso das plataformas CAD e/ou BIM. Para tal, foram consultados os Projetos Pedagógicos de Cursos (PPC) disponíveis nos respectivos sites e analisadas suas disciplinas quanto ao uso de plataformas de CAD e/ou de BIM. É possível observar um significativo número de cursos cujas disciplinas não mencionam o sistema BIM nem seus softwares, assim como experiências híbridas e abordagens importantes nesse avanço tecnológico.
