This report narrates the experience of an extension project performed in the Psychology Course of a highereducation institution aiming to expand understanding the theme of the disability under the perspective of the HumanRights. It uses as theoretical supports the Social Model of the Disability, which introduces a new conception ofdeficiency, and the social-historic psychological theory which comprises the human as a historical and socialconstruction. This is a critical perspective which comprehends the disability as a socially produced concept and thatprovides conceptual fundamentals for the struggle for their social inclusion. The development of the project, based onthe deepening of tuned readings with this guideline and the debate with representatives and militants of the class ofdisabled people, converged to the political engagement of their participants in favour of the recognition of thedisabled people rights.
