Dissection and the perception of medicine students about the importance of comparative anatomy in the basic-clinical integration and in teaching and extension

Resumo: | Anatomy is considered one of the most important contents in medical training, to understand the body's physiology and the pathophysiology of diseases. Thus, comparative anatomy, through dissection of animal organs, is essential for the development of clinical reasoning. This paper reports a dissection event, performed by an academic league of the medical course, for the anatomical comparative study. The students were divided into groups that had and did not have topographic anatomy of the thorax and after the dissection they were submitted to a questionnaire and 100% of the students reported that the dissection of the heart contributes to a greater understanding and that the practice of dissection, even through of comparative anatomy, helps in the understanding of cardiac structures and physiology. This form of teaching decreases the learning gaps that occur due to the theoretical-practical dissociation of the discipline and the lack of human pieces in the universities collections. |

Por lo tanto, la anatomía comparada, a través de la disección de órganos de animales, es esencial para el desarrollo del razonamiento clínico. Este trabajo relata un evento de disección realizado por una liga académica del curso de medicina, para el estudio comparativo anatómico. Los estudiantes fueron divididos en grupos que tuvieron y no tuvieron anatomía topográfica del tórax, y después de la disección, se sometieron a un cuestionario, donde el 100% de los alumnos afirmó que la disección del corazón contribuye a una mayor comprensión y que la práctica de la disección, incluso a través de la anatomía comparada, ayuda en la comprensión de las estructuras y la fisiología cardíaca. Esta forma de enseñanza disminuye las brechas de aprendizaje que ocurren debido a la falta de asociación teórico-práctica de la disciplina y a la falta de piezas humanas en el acervo de las universidades.A anatomia é considerada um dos conteúdos mais importantes na formação médica, imprescindível para compreender a fisiologia do corpo e a fisiopatologia das doenças. Sendo assim, a anatomia comparada, por meio de dissecação de órgãos de animais é essencial para desenvolvimento do raciocínio clínico. Esse trabalho relata um evento de dissecação, realizado por de uma liga acadêmica do curso de medicina, para o estudo comparativo anatômico. Os estudantes foram divididos em grupos que tiveram e não tiveram anatomia topográfica do tórax e após a dissecação foram submetidos a um questionário e 100% dos alunos relataram que a dissecação do coração contribui para um maior entendimento e que a prática de dissecação, mesmo por meio da anatomia comparada, auxilia na compreensão das estruturas e da fisiologia cardíaca.
