Resumo: | In the agricultural sector, coffee is one of the most important products, being produced mainly by small farmers. And the Holy Spirit, with only 0.5% of Brazil's second largest coffee producer in Brazil, with 25% of national production. However, despite the evolution of coffee Espirito Santo, with emphasis on the cultivation of Arabica coffee, mainly to improve the quality of coffee production conilon, known as robust, increasing productivity, there are still serious problems and difficulties in this sector agriculture. Thus, it is assumed that the development of networks and access to institutions and organizations related to both the production and reproduction of family units, can play an important role in the improvement of living conditions of these families, and mobilize assets, which are fundamental to increase the capacity of the families become change agents. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the morphology of established social networks among small rural farmers coffee production arrangement, the city of Castelo/ES, and its implications in the process of social production and reproduction of family units. It is then a case study, which has an exploratory nature, with a quantitative-qualitative approach, which is to study the local municipality of Castelo/ES. It was decided by the municipality according to even have a higher representation in relation to coffee production in the southern state of both the Arabica and conilon. The population surveyed consisted of farmers, coffee growers, there are at least five years. Results showed that farmers mainly male, married, aged 29-59 years with incomplete primary education, lived in rural areas, engaging with the main coffee production practices of the arrangement, whose technological index ranged from fair (arabica coffee) to good (conilon coffee). The morphology analysis of social networks showed that the relationship did not involve only the economic sphere, but also a symbolic dimension, which gives meaning to work. Coffee production in the arrangement of Espirito Santo, the relations between the elements of social networks, formal and informal, involving intimate interactions (mostly family and friends/neighbors), exchange of services and transmission of information, and monetary transactions, primarily with networks providing services. It is considered that the relations of reciprocity and, especially, the close links between social actors are the means by which networks are founded and established, helping to create opportunities and promote solidarity and learning. The quality of life related to the specific needs of the population, and its subjective dimensions, are associated with experiences, values, customs and conditions of the physical and relational. Finally, using the theoretical network enabled significant advances towards understanding the role of the same arrangement in the development of coffee production. It is concluded that social networks promote synergies between social actors; streamline the economy through mobilization of resources, favoring the accumulation of human and social capital and provide a better quality of life. |
