In the last years, we accompanied a very large expansion in computer technology. The Internet has become an important component for the transfer of information between organizations and it allowed a huge range of application opportunities. A group of systems that require a large volume of information exchange is the Geographic Information Systems. The sharing of spatial data from different sources has a huge projection if it has been inserted in a computing environment where spatial data are freely shared in an integrated manner. Organizations that wish to share data use to bump with significant issues regarding the encoding formats, storage, data quality, limitations on content, map projection parameters, data structures and metadata. Brazil still does not have any standard in production agencies in terms of data and metadata. That is why users have a lot of troubles to find spatial data and to get information about those data content to know if they are really useful. The objective of this work was to create a methodology for spatial data integration in an environment where data have a big heterogeneity using Spatial Data Infrastructure. This method proposes the study of the metadata, the evaluation of the content data and the integration of this data. At the end of this process is created a catalog of data, very important for localization, access and provision of information about the spatial data. The proposed methodology was applied in the river basin management and it obtained as a result, a fully integrated set of data with standardized metadata in accordance with the MGB Profile and accessible to users.
