Esta perspectiva destaca a importância de os alunos conhecerem a história dos conceitos matemáticos e suas origens, para que assim tenham mais interesse e construam significados para os objetos matemáticos estudados.O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido a partir de uma revisão bibliográfica fundamentada nas obras de Leontiev (1978), Ferreira (1992) e D'Ambrosio (2005) em relação à temática da cultura matemática como meio de propagação de conhecimento na educação básica. Neste estudo foram abordados comparativamente o desenvolvimentoda cultura humana e os mecanismos que tornaram possível sua criação e evolução com o surgimento e desenvolvimento da Matemática. Desta forma, esta pesquisa foi guiada pelo seguinte questionamento: Em que medida a abordagem cultural no ensino de Matemática pode contribuir para a aprendizagem mais significativa por parte dos alunos?Tendo em vista a maneira como a Matemática é ensinada majoritariamente na educação básica, de forma mecânica, maçante e repetitiva, a alternativa proposta é a utilização do acervo cultural que a Matemática possui como meio para contextualizá-la e despertar o interesse dos alunos. Espera-se que ao vislumbrarem os contextos histórico-culturais que estão na origem dos conceitos e procedimentos matemáticos, possam entender melhor a aplicabilidade dos conhecimentos e que estes se tornem mais compreendidos, podendo assim, suscitar novas (re)descobertas. This perspective highlights the importance for students to know the history of mathematical concepts and their origins, so that they have more interest and build meanings for the mathematical objects studied. The present work was developed from a literature review based on the works of Leontiev (1978), Ferreira (1992) and D'Ambrosio (2005) 1n relation to the theme of mathematical culture as a means of propagating knowledge in basic education. This study comparatively addressed the development of human culture and the mechanisms that made its creation and evolution possible with the emergence and development of mathematics. Thus, this research was guided by the following question: To what extent can the cultural approach in mathematics teaching contribute to the most meaningful learning by students? Given the way mathematics 1s mainly taught in basic education, mechanically, dull and repetitive, the proposed alternative 1s the use of the cultural collection that mathematics has as a means to contextualize 1t and arouse the interest of students. It is hoped that by glimpsing the historical-cultural contexts that are the source of mathematical concepts and procedures, they can better understand the applicability of knowledge and that they become more understood, and thus may lead to new discoveries.
