Entendemos que a EA, mais do que normatização legal, constitui-se como prática cotidiana nos movimentos sociais. Mediante análise documental e bibliográfica, buscamos comparar os princípios da EA produzidos na Zona da Mata Mineira, especificamente dentro do Movimento dos Trabalhadores Sem Terra (MST) - vinculados às práticas sociais como práticas educativas - com as orientações de convenções internacionais. Tratando-se de um ramo da educação, a EA não se desvincula desta, ao passo que necessita transitar entre outras áreas do conhecimento, a fim de embasar melhor suas prerrogativas. A educação proposta pelo MST visa criar uma identidade dos sujeitos envolvidos nos conflitos e na temática do movimento. Assim, a EA assume papel de destaque neste cenário educacional, servindo como instrumento primordial na consolidação de novos saberes relacionados a um novo modo de produção sustentável. A presente pesquisa evidencia que as regulações governamentais – leis, estatutos, os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais – apontam a necessidade de se trabalhar a perspectiva da EA sob um viés transformador, condição que é oferecida pelo MST em seus cadernos de formação e materiais afins, de modo a romper com os paradigmas educacionais relacionados à educação rural e reafirmar os preceitos da Educação do Campo, ressignificando as relações de trabalho no modo de produção agrícola.This paper assumes that the debates around the Environmental Education (EE) gain space in a context marked by the continual degradation of the environment and the supremacy of the productivist rationality of ecological interests. We understand that EA rather than statutory regulation, is constituted as a daily practice in social movements. Through a documentary and bibliographic analysis sought to compare the principles of environmental education produced in the Zona da Mata Mineira, specifically within the Landless Workers Movement (MST) - linked to social practices as educational practices - with the guidelines of the international conventions. In the case of a branch of education, EA is not out of this, while others require a transition between areas of knowledge in order to better ground its prerogatives. The education proposed by the MST aims to create an identity of persons involved in the conflict and the theme of movement. Thus, EA assumes a prominent role in this educational setting, serving as a primary instrument in the consolidation of new knowledge related to a new way of sustainable production.
