In defense of sex education in schools: what do we have to do?

Resumo: In Brazil, the abortion of a 10-year-old girl, was widely propagated on media. Taking this event, we developed this article using the methodology an essay we aim to reflect on the possible responsibility that schools have in providing, to students, knowledge regarding sexual and reproductive rights of children and adolescents. For the reflexive construction, we rehearse a dialogue between liberating education, social psychology and decolonial feminism. We propose that the sciences incorporate perspectives that questions to patriarchy and recognize the women's rights. The transformation process should start by questioning our representations and social practices.

Teniendo en conta este evento, desarrollamos este artículo utilizando la metodología de un ensayo donde reflexionamos sobre la posible responsabilidad que tienen las escuelas en arreglar, para estudiantes, conocimientos sobre derechos sexuales y reproductivos de niños y adolescentes. Para la construcción, mantuvimos un diálogo entre educación liberadora, psicología social y feminismo decolonial. Proponemos que las ciencias incorporen perspectivas que cuestionen el patriarcado y reconozca los derechos de las mujeres. El proceso de transformación debe comenzar por cuestionar nuestras representaciones y prácticas sociales.No Brasil, o aborto de uma menina de 10 anos foi difundido nas mídias. Considerando este acontecimento, desenvolvemos este artigo utilizando a metodologia de um ensaio, objetivando refletir sobre a possível responsabilidade que as escolas têm de providenciar, para estudantes, conhecimentos sobre direitos sexuais e reprodutivos de crianças e adolescentes. Para a sua construção, realizamos um diálogo entre a educação libertadora, a psicologia social e o feminismo decolonial. Propomos que as ciências incorporem perspectivas que questionem o patriarcado e reconheçam os direitos das mulheres.
