Education from the perspective of Unesco and the Paideia vision

Resumo: This article proposes a brief reflection on the United Nations Educational, Scientifc and Cultural Organization (Unesco), based on the understanding of education seen in its official reports. The theoretical framework adopted for the proposed reflection is based, mostly, to the concepts of the Aristotelian paideia and its concern with the education of the citizen of the polis. As education in classical Greece promoted ethics, the affirmation of what is human and the importance of collective life, in this study it has become indispensable for broadening the vision of the meaning of education in the beginning of the 21st century.

El referencial teórico adoptado para la reflexión propuesta está relacionado, en especial, a los conceptos referentes a la paideia aristotélica y su cuidado con la formación del ciudadano de la polis. Por cultivar la ética, la afirmación de lo humano y la importancia de la vida colectiva, la educación de la Grecia Clásica se volvió indispensable en este estudio para ayudar a ampliar la visión con relación al sentido de la formación en este inicio de siglo.Este artigo propõe uma breve reflexão acerca da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (Unesco), com base na compreensão de formação presente nos relatórios oficiais dessa instituição. O referencial teórico adotado para a reflexão proposta está ligado, em especial, aos conceitos da paideia aristotélica e o seu cuidado com a formação do cidadão da pólis.
