Resumo: In this paper, we tried to discuss the implementation of the extension at the law schools. It appears, however, that the completion of the extension has not been usual, with the exception of legal practice, which, in fact, is a stage of compulsory forensic learning. In addition, it analyzed critically the experience of curriculum or compulsory stage, relating it to the widespread crisis of the university. Questioning, finally, to this stage in its current conformation, meets the objectives that are proposed and proposals for suggesting alternatives to the hegemonic legal education, such as the popular university legal advice and popular education. The objective is also, thereby contributing to the construction and consolidation of popular legal advice as a theoretical and methodological framework.

Constata-se, porém, que a realização da extensão não tem sido usual, com exceção da prática jurídica, que, em verdade, é uma fase da aprendizagem forense obrigatória. Ademais, analisou-se de forma crítica a experiência do estágio curricular ou obrigatório, relacionando-a com a propalada crise da universidade. Questiona-se, por fim, se esse estágio, na sua atual conformação, cumpre os objetivos a que se propõe e sugerindo propostas de alternativas à educação jurídica hegemônica, como a assessoria jurídica universitária popular (AJUP) e a educação popular.
