Resumo: | Mirian Ruffini is an English language and literature teacher at the Londrina campus of the Federal Technological University of Paraná, based at DACHS. In the institution where she works, the interviewee discusses the influence of translation in her undergraduate and graduate education. In addition, she is also involved with translation activity, as will be seen in the brief overview of the interviewee and her relationship with the field of Translation Studies. Her doctoral research revolved around the paratexts of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray in Brazilian translations, which initially sparked her interest in translation as a research object. The author deepens this relationship in the following interview. As postdoctoral research, the interviewee chose João do Rio, Brazilian author of the decadent aesthetics of the last century, who had influence of the Victorian author himself in his contistic production and was translator of the English author’s magnum opus. Her postdoctoral research, developed in the Postgraduate Program in Translation Studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, resulted in the translation of João do Rio’s short stories into English, published in bilingual edition by Pontes in 2022. |
