Resumo: | The French philosopher Françoise Choay has been a reference for urbanism and cultural heritage studies. In order to understand the words appropriated by Choay and their different meanings, the books L'Urbanisme (1965) and The Rule and the Model (1980) were analyzed. The word model and its different interpretations were the critical focus of the two texts. Therefore, the tension between understanding and interpretation in Françoise Choay was pursued, new frameworks of her work, unveiling her statements and associated signs. |

Therefore, the tension between understanding and interpretation in Françoise Choay was pursued, new frameworks of her work, unveiling her statements and associated signs.Este trabajo aborda la obra de Françoise Choay (1925-), centrándose en su Antología, “Urbanismo, utopías y realidades” de 1965. Frecuentemente apropiada de forma manualista, buscamos resaltar su proceso de ensamblaje y selección de “clásicos”. Destacamos el carácter programático y manifiesto de la obra frente a los modelos, pero sobre todo su compromiso en defensa de un fundamento antropológico de la edificación. Para ello, analizamos dos grupos, “preurbanismo sin modelo” y “filosofía de la ciudad”, las valoraciones generales que de ellos hace Choay y algunos de sus autores correspondientes y los respectivos fragmentos seleccionados.A filósofa francesa Françoise Choay tem sido referência para estudos do campo do urbanismo e do patrimônio cultural. Com o intuito de aprofundar a interpretação das palavras apropriadas por Choay e seus diferentes sentidos atribuídos, foram analisadas as obras L’Urbanisme (1965) e A regra e o modelo (1980). O fio condutor da análise crítica das duas obras foi a palavra modelo e as questões postas considerando as duas obras.
