Resumo: This text examines the process used by the Unit for the Preservation of Historical Heritage, a technical and administrative structure that provides support for the official cultural preservation council of the State of São Paulo, known as Condephaat, which seeks to establish practices to create listings based on the thematic research of archival collections. These experiences, carried out by technicians, in accordance with methods traditionally used for constituting museological series, have sought to create comparative and explanatory references in order to develop parameters for the guidelines of preservation through listing - “tombamento”.
