Resumo: This article suggests a reflection about Cubism origins that, in addition to considering the important legacy of Paul Cézanne, may bring to light some connections of this avantgarde movement with Darwin's Origin of species and Einstein’s Theory of relativity, or, more specifically, its relation with both African art and space-time phenomenon. This is part of a broader survey of historical facts and events that were decisive for the construction of modern ideary and also for the formulation of abstract art in general and of Cubism in particular.
