O objetivo geral da pesquisa foi compreender as interrelações entre a política de segurança pública implantada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro pela intervenção federal e a construção da imagem de um destino turístico seguro ao visitante. O caminho metodológico utilizado se pautou na análise qualitativa com base no uso de estudo de caso, se estruturando a partir de referências bibliográficas, dados oficiais e uso de informações disponibilizadas por mídias consideradas confiáveis foram observadas importantes variações nos índices de violência e na chegada de turistas internacionais. The general objective of the research was to understand the interrelations between the public security policy implemented in the city of Rio de Janeiro by federal intervention and the construction of the image of a tourist destination that is safe for visitors. The methodological path used was based on the qualitative analysis based on the use of a case study. It was structured from bibliographical references, official data and the use of information provided by reliable media. Significant variations were observed in the rates of violence and the arrival of tourists international meetings.
