O mau uso e o desrespeito aos prazos de carência, especialmente quando não há uma rigorosa e efetiva fiscalização da produção animal e dos alimentos de origem animal, pode trazer sérios prejuízos à saúde humana, comprometendo a qualidade de vida e tornando-se um problema de saúde pública. Dentre os pontos mais importantes encontram-se os resíduos de antibióticos usados como promotores de crescimento. O uso contínuo de antibióticos em baixas dosagens nos sistemas de produção animal incorporados às rações pode acarretar ao ser humano a ingestão indireta destes medicamentos por tempo prolongado, podendo provocar reações adversas e outros distúrbios. The misuse and disrespect to withdrawal periods, specially when there is no efficient and rigid control at animal husbandry, and of food of animal origin, may cause serious damage to human health, compromising the quality of life and turning into a public health issue. Within the most important aspects is the presence of antibiotic growth promoters’ residues. The continued use of antibiotics in low doses at animal husbandry, added to animal feeds, may involve the ingestion of these medicines for a long time, causing side effects and other troubles.
