Procura-se expandir a discussão sobre o atual momento político por meio da aproximação da principal linha de interpretação, a populista, com os conceitos de democracia, soberania, político e a crítica ao liberalismo de Schmitt. Primeiramente será discutida a possibilidade de verificar a existência da crise do estado democrático. Em sequência será explorada uma das principais intepretações da atual crise para contextualizá-la e apontar a carência terminológica encontrada em muitas das análises do fenômeno estudado. Serão brevemente analisadas as definições de democracia e liberalismo e seu desenvolvimento histórico no século XX, de forma a propiciar maior clareza analítica à tese. Com delimitação conceitual em mão, serão apresentados os pilares da ideologia populista e da teoria democrática de Schmitt. The intention is to expand the discussion of the current political moment by approximating the main line of interpretation, populism, with the concepts of democracy, sovereignty, the political and critique of liberalism as presented by Schmitt. To that end at first it will be determined if it is possible to verify the existence of a democratic crisis. Following this we will evaluate one of the most influential analysis of the current crisis as to contextualize it and point to the lack of terminological objectivity found in many of these analyses. For this reason, we will briefly present and discuss the definitions of democracy and liberalism as well as their historical development in the twentieth century, to bring more analytical clarity to the thesis. With these definitions in hand we will introduce the tenets of populist ideology, next the same will be done to the concepts of Schmitt’s democratic theory.
