Um indivíduo estigmatizado é aquele que possui alguma deficiência física ou mental; algum diferencial no caráter, como um criminoso, alcoolista, entre outros; ou alguém que tenha raça ou religião diferente. Esse estigma está relacionado à violência física, simbólica e psicológica. O objetivo do trabalho é analisar, através de uma revisão bibliográfica, as relações entre violência, estigma, preconceito e saúde mental no contexto da Reforma Psiquiátrica brasileira. Foram encontrados sete artigos, entre os anos de 2008 e 2013, na base de dados Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS). Os critérios de inclusão que se utilizou foram artigos que discutiam quais os tipos de violência que as pessoas com transtornos mentais sofrem e se são institucionais ou não. Os resultados encontrados se basearam no autoestigma e no estigma dos profissionais de saúde como temas de destaque. O autoestigma existiu na forma de autodepreciação, quando os pacientes se sentiam inferiorizados pelos seus transtornos. O estigma dos profissionais de saúde existiu na forma de distância social, negligência e crenças estigmatizantes. Pôde-se concluir com o trabalho, que instituições de saúde mental e os profissionais dessa área são o que mais estigmatizam esses usuários. As publicações sobre estigma e saúde mental ainda são escassas e pouco se publicou sobre o estigma da sociedade para com as pessoas em sofrimento mental, o que acabou sendo uma limitação do estudo. ___________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTStigma is something considered uncommon among the society. An individual who suffers from it is the one different in some aspect, presenting a deficiency: physical or mental; a distinctive character aspect, as a criminal mind, an alcoholic addicted and others; Perhaps someone adept of a religion or born in a specific race, both condemned by the society. The objective is to analyze, through a literature review, the relation between violence, stigma, prejudice and mental health in the context of Brazilian psychiatric reform. Were found seven articles, made in the period between 2008 and 2013, based on data from HVL (Health Virtual Library).The inclusion criteria used were the articles that debated the types of violence that people with mental illness suffered and which of those types were institutional and which were not. The results here presented were based in the self stigma and in the stigma of health professionals as main themes. The self stigma existed in form of self-depreciation, when patients felts inferior for their disturbances. The stigma committed by health professionals existed in forms of social distance, negligence and stigmatizing beliefs. The work made able to conclude that mental health institutions and the respective professionals were the ones that most contributed to stigmatize the users (patients). The public information about stigma and mental health still are limited, furthermore few were publicized about the society’s stigma against people in mental suffering.
