Resumo: The purpose of this article is to analyse how union activism and the work experience of metalworkers were part of the learning processes and became expectations of formal education for their children. The interviews were carried out with metallurgical women and men from the ABC Paulista region, who participated in the cycle of strikes in the late 1970s, and with their sons and daughters. From their memories, we can show how the trajectories of activism and work provide evidence to understand the influences on the educational investments of sons and daughters.

Las entrevistas se realizaron con mujeres y hombres metalúrgicos de la región ABC Paulista, que participaron en el ciclo de huelgas a fines de la década de 1970, y con hijos e hijas. A partir de sus memorias, podemos mostrar cómo las trayectorias del activismo y el trabajo muestran evidencias para comprender las influencias en las inversiones educativas de hijos e hijas.A proposta deste artigo é analisar como a militância sindical e a experiência de trabalho de metalúrgicos(as) foram constituintes de processos de aprendizagem e se converteram em expectativas de educação formal para os(as) filhos(as). As entrevistas foram feitas com mulheres e homens metalúrgicos, seus filhos e filhas, da região do ABC Paulista, que participaram do ciclo de greves de fins da década de 1970.
