Resumo: | The issue of suicide prevention has gained prominence in recent decades, after the World Health Organization (WHO) classified self-harm as a "global public health problem" at the beginning of the 21st century. Brazil has made commitments and adhered to the goals of reducing the social suicide rate planned by international institutions, the most recent being the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), included in the United Nations (UN) Agenda 2030. This paper discusses the goals of SDG No. 3, "Health and Well-Being", presenting its main indicators and analyzing the data related to goal 3.4, which aims to reduce the number of premature deaths by promoting mental health and well-being. This is a documental and applied research, supported by quantitative data and critical literature review. It was analyzed that Brazil has public policies that contribute to the SDGs, but its social and health indicators show a negative trend for social well-being, accompanied by increasing suicide rates. Keywords: Mental Health. Wellness. Public policies. SDGs. |
