TOWARDS AN ETHNOGRAPHIC IMAGINATION IN EDUCATION

Resumo: This article aims at presenting the ethnographic imagination as a powerful tool for critical research in education. Learning from a literature review, the present work proposes there is a rich diversity in ethnographic practices in education, despite the relative skepticism these developments are confronted with. This bibliographical study points to the possibility of approaching the Brazilian educational reality under the perspective of the ethnographic imagination, according to Paul Willis. This manuscript, therefore, theoretically discusses this category, establishing a methodological liability proposal for the operation of an ethnographic imagination, as well as a step-by-step procedure for its operation. Results indicate the proposal for a new sensitivity towards the ethnographic work in education in Brazil, the invite to a new methodological perspective and the reorientation of methodological procedures for collecting and analyzing ethnographic data in educational research.

A partir de una revisión de literatura, el texto propone que hay una diversidad  de prácticas etnográficas en educación, a pesar del relativo escepticismo frente a esta desarrollo. A través de este estudio bibliográfico, se apuntó la posibilidad de abordar la realidad educacional brasileña bajo la perspectiva de la imaginación etnográfica, de acuerdo con Paul Willis. El manuscrito propone una discusión teórica sobre esta categoría, establece una propuesta de confiabilidad metodológica para la operación de la imaginación etnográfica y indica un paso a paso para su efectuación. Como resultados, se destacan una propuesta de nueva sensibilidad frente al trabajo etnográfico en educación, una invitación a la operación rigorosa de la perspectiva metodológica y una reorientación de procedimientos metodológicos de colecta y análisis de dados etnográficos.Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a proposta de imaginação etnográfica como uma ferramenta potente para a pesquisa crítica em educação. A partir de revisão de literatura, o texto propõe que há uma rica diversidade de práticas etnográficas em educação, apesar do relativo ceticismo frente a este desenvolvimento. Através deste estudo bibliográfico, se apontou para a possibilidade de abordar a realidade educacional brasileira sob a perspectiva da imaginação etnográfica, de acordo com Paul Willis.  O manuscrito, assim, propõe uma discussão teórica sobre esta categoria, estabelece uma proposta de confiabilidade metodológica para a operação da imaginação etnográfica e sugere um passo a passo para sua efetivação.
