Resumo: This study delves into the formation of health educators in Brazil, focusing on initial training, continuous education, and policies for ongoing health education within the public health sector. The research scrutinizes the effectiveness of these policies in educational practices and their repercussions on primary health services, contemplating various health education spaces and self-care teaching and learning. Framed as a narrative explanatory, descriptive, and interpretative study, data collection utilized access to databases such as Scielo, the Virtual Health Library (BVS), and Google Scholar. The selection of peer-reviewed publications within the past five years adhered to temporal criteria. The methodological approach centered on categories aimed at understanding ongoing health education policies in the context of continuous training, emphasizing public primary health care settings as informal environments for health teaching and learning.

A pesquisa analisa a eficácia dessas políticas nas práticas educativas e seu impacto nos serviços primários de saúde, refletindo sobre diversos espaços de educação em saúde e no ensino e aprendizagem para o autocuidado. Trata-se de um estudo narrativo explicativo, conduzido por meio do acesso a bases de dados como Scielo, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e a plataforma Google Acadêmico. A seleção de publicações, revisadas por pares e com até cinco anos, seguiu este recorte temporal.
