Resumo: The present paper presents a reflection on the concept of truth in relation to the ideal of democracy, especially in consideration of contemporary realities. In this way, the text is subdivided into sections that aim to contemplate some fundamental elements of this relationship for the 21st century, as follows: different understandings about the concept of truth; the ideal of democracy and the principles that should guide the democratic public sphere; the contemporary digital reality of this form of government, with new aspects (use of “bots”, microtargeting, and so on) and old problems (hate speech and the dissemination of fake news); the relationship between power and the adoption of "truths"; and the proposal of a critical theory of truth and democracy.

Así, el texto se subdivide en secciones que buscan contemplar algunos elementos fundamentales de esta relación para el siglo XXI, a saber: diferentes comprensiones del concepto de verdad; el ideal de democracia y los principios que deben guiar la esfera pública democrática; la realidad digital contemporánea de esta forma política de gobierno, con nuevos aspectos (uso de “bots”, microtargeting, entre otros) y viejas problemáticas (discurso de odio y divulgación de noticias falsas); la relación entre el poder y la adopción de “verdades”; y la propuesta de una teoría crítica de la verdad y la democracia.O presente texto apresenta uma reflexão acerca do conceito de verdade em relação com o ideal de democracia, sobretudo em consideração às realidades contemporâneas.
