Resumo: The aim this study is to present and discuss the contributions of Information and Communication Technologies in the training of teachers who work and who will act in educational institutions. The method chosen was the literature review. The study pointed out that the school cannot lose the opportunity to be agents of transformation, leaving to stay on the sidelines or influence the construction of new knowledge. It also showed that the education through information and communication technologies offers new opportunities for open and flexible learning. When planning the integration of TICs in teacher training, it is important that educational institutions understand what skills and knowledge that these professionals need to acquire in order to effectively use this technology into their classes, understanding, yet, the extent to which the institution is prepared to carry out the integration of TICs in the curriculum.

El método elegido fue la revisión de la literatura. El estudio señala que la escuela no puede perder la oportunidad de ser agentes de transformación, dejando a permanecer al margen o influir en la construcción de nuevo conocimiento. También mostró que la educación mediante las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación ofrece nuevas oportunidades para el aprendizaje abierto y flexible. Al planificar la integración de las TIC en la formación docente, es importante que las instituciones educativas comprendan qué habilidades y conocimientos que estos profesionales necesitan adquirir para utilizar eficazmente esta tecnología en sus clases, comprendiendo, sin embargo, hasta qué punto la institución está preparada para llevar a cabo la integración de las TICs en el currículo.O objetivo deste estudo consiste em apresentar e discutir as contribuições das Tecnologias da Informação e da Comunicação na formação dos docentes que atuam e que irão atuar nas instituições educativas. O método escolhido foi o da revisão bibliográfica. O estudo destacou que a instituição escolar não pode perder a chance de ser agente transformador, deixando-se ficar à margem dos acontecimentos ou de influenciar na construção de novos conhecimentos. Mostrou também que a educação por meio das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação oferece novas possibilidades de aprendizagem aberta e flexível.
