Resumo: Based on the concepts of gender and discourse, this article proposes to address how women who establish their sexuality under a logic different from heterosexuality are represented in two novels of Brazilian television, one from the 1990s, 'Tower of Babel' (1998), and another from the 2010s, by the novel 'Babilônia' (2015). From the survey and analysis of articles and comments from newspapers, we sought to relate the theoretical criticism with the production of gender stereotypes and sexuality about these characters, as well as the repercussion in the media about the novels, and consequently, the social appeal that the characters had. Thus, it was observed that although there was support from the media and popular opinion, the low audience and the various problems faced by the productions made it difficult to make the agenda of lesbian women visible in Brazilian society.
