The importance of academic research to the development of family farming in the context of market access

Resumo: Family Farming is an important topic in the research agenda, considering its social and economic roles. This study aims at describing the academic production of the author Ana Elisa Bressan Lourenzani Smith, who, throughout her academic career, has developed research on this topic. Therefore, we carried out a descriptive study, with a choice of bibliographical research for data collection. The documents were collected from international databases and scientific events, considering the variables “titles” and “keywords” that contained the terms "family farming" and/or "smallholder", objectives of the published papers, and the objects of discussion. The results showed that the author has published 07 full articles in journals and 16 in scientific events. The most commonly used objects of discussion were public policies aimed at marketing access, marketing channels, marketing strategies, collective actions and rural development. It has been observed that the author has contributed to understanding strategies adopted by farmers with regard to market access and the role of public policy.

It has been observed that the author has contributed to understanding strategies adopted by farmers with regard to market access and the role of public policy.Considerando que la Agricultura Familiar se ha firmado como un importante tema para agendas de investigación, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal describir la producción académica de la autora Ana Elisa Bressan Smith Lourenzani, que a lo largo de su carrera académica desarrolló investigaciones acerca de esta temática. Para ello, se realizó una investigación descriptiva, con elección de investigación bibliográfica para la recolección de los datos. Los documentos fueron recolectados en bases de datos de nivel internacional y en memorias de eventos científicos, considerando las variables: títulos y palabras-claves que contenían los términos "Agricultura Familiar" y/o "Pequeño Productor", objetivos de los trabajos publicados, y los objetos de discusión tratados. Los resultados demostraron que la autora publicó 7 artículos completos en periódicos y 16 en memorias de eventos científicos. Los objetos de discusión más utilizados fueron políticas públicas orientadas a la comercialización, canales de comercialización, estrategias de comercialización, acciones colectivas y desarrollo rural. Se observa que los estudios de la referida autora han contribuido al repensar de las estrategias adoptadas por los agricultores familiares con relación al acceso a mercados, ya sean institucionales o privados.Considerando que a Agricultura Familiar tem se firmado como importante tema para agendas de pesquisa, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal descrever a produção acadêmica da autora Ana Elisa Bressan Smith Lourenzani, que ao longo de sua carreira acadêmica desenvolveu pesquisas acerca desta temática. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa descritiva, com escolha de pesquisa bibliográfica para coleta dos dados. Os documentos foram coletados em bases de dados de nível internacional e em anais de eventos científicos, considerando as variáveis: títulos e palavras-chaves que continham os termos “Agricultura Familiar” e/ou “Pequeno Produtor”, objetivos dos trabalhos publicados, e os objetos de discussão tratados. Os resultados demonstraram que a autora publicou 07 artigos completos em periódicos e 16 em anais de eventos científicos. Os objetos de discussão mais utilizados foram políticas públicas direcionadas à comercialização, canais de comercialização, estratégias de comercialização, ações coletivas e desenvolvimento rural.
