Archival documents as a basis for the construction of institutional memory:: a review of literature in Brazilian theses between 2009 and 2018

This paper aims to present results found in the literature review on the construction of institutional memory based on archival documents. The search was carried out in the database of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), using the terms: “file” + “institutional memory”; “File” + “organizational memory”; “File” + “business memory”. The cut delimited the period between 2009 and 2018 the two major areas of knowledge: applied social sciences and human sciences; and knowledge area of ​​information science, communication and history. From the results found, fifteen works were selected for reading and analysis, and the result pointed to the issues of dispute and power, memory and forgetfulness, manipulation and ideological impositions that permeate the construction of memory. In addition to the interdisciplinary nature of the research, it was noticed that the archival documents were fundamental for the production of the theses read. However, more studies are still needed to deepen the theme, highlighting the interdisciplinary character of memory. And, still for the development of methodologies, that use the archival documents as a fundamental part for the construction of the institutional memory.
