Hackerspaces knowledge creation: the good practices to generate innovation in organizations

A hackerspace is an organization rooted in the maker culture characterized by focusing on creating innovation involving technology. These organizations are independent, non-profit, and democratically managed. Thus, the hackerspace's environment, inspired by 'innovation through innovation,' can help different organizations become more effective in knowledge creation, enabling a virtuous and sustainable cycle of innovations. This research aims to suggest practices of knowledge creation for organizations different sorts of organizations based on the understanding of hackerspaces knowledge creation practices. For this, descriptive and exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, was carried out. The results showed that knowledge creation in a hackerspace is due to the culture of seeking knowledge, collaborative work, interaction, knowledge sharing, and stimulating creativity and learning. These practices can lead different organizations to stimulate new knowledge creation, contributing to innovation in those organizations.
