Information anxiety in college students in the context of information and communication technologies

The objective of the study is to provide statistical evidence of determinants for the occurrence of Information Anxiety in nursing students. This is an exploratory and descriptive research with a quantitative approach developed in the period from May to June 2018. The study participants were 181 undergraduate students of the Nursing course at Federal University of Paraíba. Data were collected through a structured instrument and analyzed, through descriptive statistics, association tests between variables of interest and Logistic Regression model adjustment to highlight variables that may contribute to the occurrence of Information Anxiety. The tests and model adjustment provided evidence that the variables: Volume of information, Classroom, Belief that the other understands everything, Drop in performance, Indisposition, Sleep disorders and Headache contribute to the occurrence of Information Anxiety among Nursing students at Federal University of Paraíba. The logistic regression model used to explain Information Anxiety was found to have an overall predictive power of approximately 84.9% of the cases, indicating a good performance.
