Information Literacy as Social Innovation in the Justice System: ambiguities between theory and practice

The justice system is undergoing an intense digital transformation, which demands adaptations to new processes and work dynamics, with the consequent development of skills for creating, using and sharing information throughout life. This article is a multiple case study with a qualitative approach, carried out in institutions of the justice system, with the objective of identifying convergences and conflicts between theory and practice on the topics information literacy and social innovation in the practice of actors in the justice system, verifying the existence of possible gaps in the development of these processes. Data collection techniques consisted of documentary research and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was performed using Activity Theory to find ambiguities and contradictions between theory and practice in the justice system. The results point to the importance of continued training and an interdisciplinary approach between information literacy and social innovation, in order to overcome challenges related to the use of information. One concludes that there is a potential field of research related to the development of information literacy for the implementation of social innovations, such as the 2030 Agenda.
