Resumo: It is with great pleasure that we present to the reader a special volume, the result of the Student Seminar of the Postgraduate Program in Social Sciences at UNESP/Marília: “The challenges and limits of social sciences in the current situation”, which took place in 2018. On this occasion, several students and researchers, especially students from postgraduate programs, were able to present their work and contributed to fostering discussions about the role of social sciences in the current situation. Curated by the team and editorial board of Revista Aurora, we selected some texts that express the thematic and methodological diversity that were the focus of the event hosted at UNESP/FFC – Marília. There were discussions about the sociology of culture, education, political theory and social movements. Highlights include the texts by Vinicius Tadeu Milani (UFPR) about the thoughts of Raymond Willians; for the article by Letícia Lima de Souza (UNESP), which discusses the teaching of sociology in high school; the text by Vitor Luiz Carvalho da Silva (UNESP), which discusses the impacts of neoliberal policies on housing programs; and that of Friedrich Maier, who analyzes social movements in cyberspace from a Gramiscian perspective.

En esta ocasión, varios estudiantes e investigadores, especialmente estudiantes de programas de posgrado, pudieron presentar sus trabajos y contribuyeron a fomentar la discusión sobre el papel de las ciencias sociales en la situación actual. Con la curaduría del equipo y del consejo editorial de la Revista Aurora, seleccionamos algunos textos que expresan la diversidad temática y metodológica que fueron el foco del evento realizado en la UNESP/FFC – Marília. Hubo discusiones sobre sociología de la cultura, educación, teoría política y movimientos sociales. Se destacan los textos de Vinicius Tadeu Milani (UFPR) sobre el pensamiento de Raymond Willians; por el artículo de Letícia Lima de Souza (UNESP), que analiza la enseñanza de la sociología en la escuela secundaria; el texto de Vitor Luiz Carvalho da Silva (UNESP), que analiza los impactos de las políticas neoliberales en los programas de vivienda; y el de Friedrich Maier, que analiza los movimientos sociales en el ciberespacio desde una perspectiva gramisciana.É com imenso prazer que apresentamos ao leitor um volume especial, resultado do Seminário Discente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Sociais da UNESP/ Marília: “Os desafios e limites das ciências sociais na atual conjuntura”, que ocorreu no ano de 2018. Na oportunidade, vários estudantes e pesquisadores, especialmente alunos de programas de pós-graduação, puderam apresentar seus trabalhos e contribuíram para fomentar as discussões acerca do papel das ciências sociais na atual conjuntura. Com a curadoria da equipe e do conselho editoria da Revista Aurora, selecionamos alguns textos que expressam a diversidade temática e metodológica que foram a tônica do evento sediado na UNESP/FFC – Marília. Houveram discussões acerca da sociologia da cultura, educação, teoria política e movimentos sociais.
