Resumo: This article aims to outline the historical trajectory of Sociology in Brazil, indicating why it is considered an uncomfortable science. The central assumption is that this discomfort lies in the fact that Sociology has reflexivity and criticality at its core, which are crucial elements in the development of a potential, rational action, thus promoting, epistemologically, a process of denaturalization and strangeness of social phenomena, something that in a conservative society it is seen as a threat to the maintenance of order and the dominant ethos. In addition to the above, we will seek to make considerations about Sociology at the current juncture, showing that it experiences a period of attacks, and attacks that may represent the imminence of another period of intermittency / absence, showing that there is a future ahead uncertain, full of mishaps and intricacies.

Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências2021-07-10info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/article/view/1269710.36311/1982-8004.2021.v14esp.p101-116Revista Aurora; v. 14 n. 3 (2021): Edição Especial; 101-116Revista Aurora; Vol. 14 No. 3 (2021): Edição Especial; 101-116Revista Aurora; Vol. 14 Núm. 3 (2021): Edição Especial; 101-1161982-80042177-0484reponame:Revista Aurora (Online)instname:Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)instacron:UNESPporhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/article/view/12697/8225Copyright (c) 2021 Revista Aurorahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSantos, Karin Santana2024-04-11T15:21:02Zoai:ojs.revistas.marilia.unesp.br:article/12697Revistahttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/indexPUBhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/aurora/oaiaurora.revista@gmail.com||1982-80041982-8004opendoar:2024-04-11T15:21:02Revista Aurora (Online) - Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)false
