This paper aims to analyze, dialogically, the verb-visual utterance “Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see (John 9:25)” which was used, in 2009, by Rede Record and Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD) to defend the leader Edir Macedo. It was uttered against the Globo Media Organizations The goal of this paper is to highlight that the verb-visual utterance had the purpose of persuading the public opinion to absolve Edir Macedo from all guilty and, therefore to deny Globo’s and the Justice’s accusations. The method used was a bibliographic research. The verb-visual utterance was a reply to the Globo Organizations and it is an utterance with specific meanings so it can have an active responsive attitude of disagreement from the Record/IURD supporters. Thus, the utterance is in the middle of a discursive and dialogic arena between Globo and Record.
