Resumo: This work reflects on the instrumentalization of large supermarket chains for the distribution of the production of large companies in the agrifood sector. Their performance contrasts with the current moment that Brazilian society is going through in the fight against hunger, this old haunting that accompanies 33.1 million Brazilians. The objective of this work is to relate the current picture of food and nutritional insecurity with the performance of these retail food outlets. Their performance is aligned with the financial interests that contribute to the monoculture plantations as well as to the standardization of food consumption in Brazil, so that the cost of the basic food basket increases along with the depression of the workers' income. Thus, the alternative for feeding oneself is debt, which results in the strengthening of these financial groups while most of the agents involved are facing strong vulnerability in both rural and urban areas.

Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências2022-12-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/RFM/article/view/1382610.36311/2675-3871.2022.v3n8.p117-143Revista Fim do Mundo; No. 8: Jul./Dec. 2022 - The Condition of the Working Class in the Current Crisis of World Capitalism; 117-143Revista Fim do Mundo; Núm. 8: jul./dic. 2022 - A situação da Classe Trabalhadora na atual crise do capitalismo mundial; 117-1432675-38712675-3812reponame:Revista Fim do Mundo (Online)instname:Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)instacron:UNESPporhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/RFM/article/view/13826/11235Copyright (c) 2022 Revista Fim do Mundohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAssis Braz, CaueMonteiro Costa, AnaRibeiro Neto, Benildes de Souza2023-03-09T13:42:13Zoai:ojs.revistas.marilia.unesp.br:article/13826Revistahttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/RFMPUBhttps://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/RFM/oairfm.marilia@unesp.br || hetanov@gmail.com2675-38712675-3812opendoar:2023-03-09T13:42:13Revista Fim do Mundo (Online) - Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)false
