This paper analyzes the representations of women in 19th century Brazil, through the work Women's Rights and Men's Injustice, written and published by Nísia Floresta in 1833, in Porto Alegre. To do so, it was based on the use of texts and literature as historical sources and discourse analysis as methodology. By relating prejudice (a term that referred to prejudice in the period), custom (a term that meant culture), men's authority over women, the differences between both sexes, God's virtuous woman and the woman educator and scientist, we sought to understand the portraits of women present in the work, relating them to the historical, social, and political context of the 19th century, considering multiplicity when studying the History of Women.
