KNOWLEDGE OF CHILD EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS ON AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER

Resumo: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by affecting neurological development, causing losses in the areas of social communication and manifestation of restricted patterns of interests and activities. Faced with an increase in cases of this disorder in the population, this study aimed to investigate the knowledge about ASD. Therefore, we considered the experience with this disorder during the career in education, the decisions to be taken when identifying signs of ASD in a child, the requests to be made if they receive a student with ASD and the opinion of the professionals about the importance of a first diagnosis for Early Childhood Education. The study included 170 professionals from Municipal Integrated Infantile Education (EMEII) from a city of the interior of São Paulo participated in the study. The main results indicate a general lack of knowledge about the aspects that define and characterize a child with ASD, although most of the participants (55.29%) reported having lived with an individual with ASD in their education career. Moreover, the strategies adopted in identifying signs of ASD in a child were ineffective. We concluded that such data indicate the need of minimum training on the subject so that they can offer a quality educational service to these children.

Ante un aumento de casos de este trastorno en la población. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar el conocimiento sobre el TEA, la experiencia con este trastorno a lo largo de la carrera en la educación, las decisiones a tomar al identificar signos de TEA en un niño, las atenciones a ser tomadas si se recibe a un alumno con TEA y la opinión de los profesionales sobre la importancia del diagnóstico precoz para la Educación Infantil. Participaron del estudio 170 profesionales de la Educación Municipal Infantil Integrada (EMEII) de un municipio del interior del São Paulo. Los principales resultados obtenidos señalan un desconocimiento general de los aspectos que definen y caracterizan a un niño con TEA, aunque la mayoría de los participantes (55,29%) afirmó haber convivido con un individuo con TEA en su carrera en la educación. Y que las estrategias adoptadas al identificar señales de TEA en un niño eran ineficaces. Se concluye que tales datos indican la necesidad de formación mínima sobre el tema para que puedan ofrecer una atención educativa de calidad a estos niños.O Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) se caracteriza por afetar o desenvolvimento neurológico gerando prejuízos nas áreas de comunicação social e manifestação de padrões restritos de interesses e atividades. Diante de um aumento de casos deste transtorno na população. Este estudo visou investigar o conhecimento sobre o TEA, a experiência com este transtorno ao longo da carreira na educação, as decisões a serem tomadas ao identificar sinais de TEA em uma criança, as solicitações a serem feitas caso recebam um aluno com TEA e a opinião destes sobre a importância do diagnóstico precoce para a Educação Infantil. Participaram do estudo 170 profissionais da Educação Municipal Infantil Integrada (EMEII) de um município do interior do São Paulo. Os principais resultados obtidos sinalizam um desconhecimento geral dos aspectos que definem e caracterizam uma criança com TEA, ainda que a maioria dos participantes (55,29%) afirmou ter convivido com um indivíduo com TEA em sua carreira na educação. E que as estratégias adotadas ao identificarem sinais de TEA em uma criança eram ineficazes.
