Documenting the “Bodocongó” neighborhood in Campina Grande city [state of Paraiba, Brazil]: dialogue between architecture, landscape and industrial heritage

Resumo: The article has as its object of study the analysis of the natural and built landscape of the Bodocongó neighbourhood in Campina Grande, in the north-eastern region of Paraíba, which had its origin and consolidation linked to the regional modernization and industrialization process, which occurred in the 50s and 70s of the 20th centuries. The objective is to observe the dialogue between architecture, landscape, and industrial heritage, reflecting on the changes undergone in the natural and built landscapes of this neighbourhood over seven decades, based on original documents and generated by the research, analysing what was kept from its natural landscape, and its architectural history linked to the industrial segment. To prove the hypotheses and look for ways or answers to the questions, the research has been based on methodology of the history of architecture and urbanism developed by Serra (2006) that proposes the study of the object understood as a process, which dialogues with a system that it surrounds it, consisting of geographical, historical, social, cultural, economic, political aspects. In this research of fundamental importance, interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinary of this knowledge are considered.

Para comprovar as hipóteses e procurar caminhos ou respostas para os questionamentos, a pesquisa vem se apoiando em metodologia da história da arquitetura e do urbanismo desenvolvida por Serra (2006) que propõe o estudo do objeto compreendido como um processo, que dialoga com um sistema que o circunda, composto por aspectos geográficos, históricos, sociais, culturais, econômicos, políticos.
