Resumo: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of sleep disturbance and associated factors in college students. This is a quantitative cross-sectional epidemiological study that evaluated 710 university students in 2020, through the application of two questionnaires. Internet addiction was assessed using the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and sleep quality using the Pittisburgh Scale. The prevalence of college students with sleep disorders was 24.5% (95%CI: 21.3% - 27.7%), being higher among females (26.7%) and among students aged between 28 and 37 years (37.5%). It is also observed that university students aged between 28 and 37 years are 2.92 (95%CI: 1.06-8.03) more likely to have sleep disorders than younger students. The prevalence of university students with internet dependence was 49.9% and that being female and more dependent on the internet increased by 1.54 (95%CI: 1.07-2.22) and 2.22 (95%CI) : 1.54-3.20) times more likely to have sleep disorder (p<0.05). There was a significant association between the presence of sleep disorder and sex and age (p<0.05). It was found that university students with greater internet dependence in the social abandonment domain are more likely to have sleep disorders (OR=2.00 95%CI: 1.40-2.86). It is concluded that being female and having greater dependence on the internet and having abandonment of social life increased the chance of having a sleep disorder.

Universidade Estadual de Campinas2023-10-20info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etd/article/view/866771010.20396/etd.v25i00.8667710ETD - Educação Temática Digital; Vol. 25 (2023): Continuous publication; e023057ETD - Educação Temática Digital; Vol. 25 (2023): Publicación continua; e023057ETD - Educação Temática Digital; v. 25 (2023): Publicação contínua; e0230571676-2592reponame:ETD - Educação Temática Digitalinstname:Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP)instacron:UNICAMPporhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etd/article/view/8667710/32632Contemporary BrazilBrasil contemporáneoBrasil contemporâneoCopyright (c) 2023 ETD - Educação Temática Digitalhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessOliveira, Jorgia Cibele Souza SilvaFlório, Flávia MartãoZanin, Luciane2024-01-10T21:04:57Zoai:ojs.periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br:article/8667710Revistahttp://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etdPUBhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etd/oaippec@unicamp.br||acdiasjr@gmail.com||etd@unicamp.br|| gilbfe@unicamp.br1676-25921676-2592opendoar:2024-01-10T21:04:57ETD - Educação Temática Digital - Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP)false
