Math investigation in the classroom: dealing with information at the elementary level

Resumo: This research, involving students from 8th grade of elementary school basic education at astate school in the town of Sertão, north of Rio Grande do Sul, aimed to analyze the potential of theapproach of mathematical investigation in the development of contents of the information processingblock. The analysis tools were records of math classes were developed by one of the researchers in herrole as a teacher. The theoretical basis for the research consists of authors such as Ponte, Vigotski,Duval, among others, who highlight important aspects for consideration in the classroom. Thedevelopment of mathematical research activities allowed instructions in the classroom interactions, which potentialised the appropriation of the concepts of meaning processing, which compose thecontent of information dealing of the afore-mentioned school grade.

Thedevelopment of mathematical research activities allowed instructions in the classroom interactions, which potentialised the appropriation of the concepts of meaning processing, which compose thecontent of information dealing of the afore-mentioned school grade. Esta pesquisa, envolvendo alunos de 8ª série do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola da rede estadual de ensino do município de Sertão, região norte do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, teve como objetivo analisar o potencial da abordagem de investigação matemática no desenvolvimento de conteúdos do bloco Tratamento da informação. Os instrumentos de análise foram os registros das aulas de matemática desenvolvidas por uma das pesquisadoras em sua função de professora. A base teórica foi constituída por autores como Ponte, Vigotski, Duval, entre outros, os quais apresentam aspectos importantes para análise da complexidade da sala de aula.
