Action teaching in the development of Mathematical Modeling

Resumo: This work aimed to expand the understanding of the pedagogical action, in learning environments, under theperspective of mathematical modeling. In order to do so, a qualitative research study was carried. The object ofanalysis was the actions and dialogues, occurring in a specific teaching and learning context, between a teacherand her 5th-grade students, in a public elementary school. The research allowed us to observe that during themodeling task, the pedagogical intervention varied according to the needs of the students and the goals of theactivity. This finding leads to the conclusion that the change in teacher's attitude during the process is due to thedynamic nature of the investigation from a mathematical modeling perspective, which requires different levelsof intervention, in order to contribute to the development of concepts, attitudes and specific reasoning, takinginto account the role of autonomy in the construction of knowledge by students.

Para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa. Tomaram-se, como objeto de análise, as ações e os diálogos realizados em um contexto específico de ensino e aprendizagem entre uma professora e seus alunos de uma turma de quinto ano de uma escola municipal. A pesquisa possibilitou observar que, no desenvolvimento da tarefa de modelagem, a intervenção pedagógica variou de acordo com as necessidades dos estudantes e os objetivos da atividade.
