Experiences of mathematics teachers in the start of their careers in the use of information and communication technology

This research investigated the experiences of teachers in the beginningof their careers, when using Information and Communication Technology - ICT -in their classes. The gathering of data was done by questionnaires and semistructuralized interviews with four subjects. Beyond the difficulties, the fears,the frequent angst in the beginning of the career pointed by national andinternational literature on this theme, other aspects are added due to the use oftechnologies: the slower speed of the classes with the technologies due to itsdynamics; the lack of knowledge, on the part of the students, of thesetechnological tools; the imprevisibility; the improvisation, among others.However, the diverse ways in which the technologies were used evidenced muchcreativity and clarity of objectives, and the positive experiences of this phasemay have contributed to minimize the “reality shock”, beyond other experiences,as the participation in courses of continued education and the support ofcollaborative groups.
