Resumo: | This paper reports on some reflections on the program of MathematicsEducation for Young Adults and Adults (Educação de Jovens e Adultos – EJA).Such reflections took shape as the author carried out a one-semester case studyfocusing on the pedagogic practice of two in-service student teachers. Theauthor had a twofold involvement in this research process, both as a supervisor and as a researcher. As a supervisor of these student teachers, the researcheraimed at offering help and guidance in lesson planning and teaching materialsdesign. In this coaching process, the author purported to question the pedagogicpractice of these student teachers and to create some visibility for the newknowledge generated in this process. As a researcher, the author problematizedthe taken-for-granted nature of some constitutive elements of the habitus ofmathematics teachers, which support specific pedagogic practices, andquestioned the possibilities of changing this habitus. The description of thisprocess focuses on the following categories: a) what is basic in EJA, b) thelinearity of the mathematics curriculum, and c) teaching as a learningexperience. |
