Resumo: This paper is aimed at relating mathematical representations whichemerge from some young interviewees’ speeches, to their subject constitution, inorder to reflect on the interference of these representations in their subjectivityand in their way of conceiving mathematics. Based on a discourse perspective,related to some Foucaultian language studies and psychoanalytic concepts, wesearch for the articulation among those representations, practices and thesubjectivity. Analyzing the interviewees’ utterances, we can notice thatmathematics is generally conceived as an academic subject, associated with itsteaching and learning process at school and also with the teachers that are responsible for this subject in regular education. Mathematics representationscan be related to a utilitarian conception of learning and to a subject’s desire forknowledge as well.

Mathematics representationscan be related to a utilitarian conception of learning and to a subject’s desire forknowledge as well.A proposta desse artigo é relacionar as representações de matemática, que surgem no dizer dos enunciadores entrevistados, com a constituição desses sujeitos, de modo a refletir como essas representações interferem em sua subjetividade e na forma de pensar a matemática. Esse trabalho traz como pressupostos teóricos a abordagem discursiva, os estudos foucautianos da linguagem e alguns conceitos da psicanálise, buscando nas representações da matemática a articulação entre subjetividade e práticas discursivas.
