Resumo: The objective of this paper was to investigate a perception of the individual regarding the use of the bicycle as a means of transportation in the municipality of Palmas, capital of the state of Tocantins. The study uses an attitude survey with some factors related to the choice of bicycle as a means of transportation. The survey was conducted between September 29 and 31, 2017 in three distinct points of the city: Plano Diretor, Taquaralto and Aurenys, 400 questionnaires were applied. The main results pointed out that people use the bicycle as a means of transportation; that its use is good for health and that it is a cheap transport. The male sex is more acceptably. The interviewees complain about the lack of infrastructure and safety for the use of the bicycle.

El estudio utilizó una encuesta de actitud con algunos factores relacionados con la elección de la bicicleta como medio de transporte. Los cuestionarios se aplicaron entre el 29 y 31 de septiembre de 2017 en tres puntos diferentes de la ciudad: Plano Diretor, Taquaralto y Aurenys, se aplicaron 400 cuestionarios. Los principales resultados muestran que las personas usan la bicicleta como medio de transporte; que su uso beneficia la salud y que es un transporte de bajo costo. Con relación al uso, el sexo masculino tiene una mayor aceptabilidad. Los encuestados reclaman sobre la baja infraestructura y seguridad para el uso de la bicicleta. O objetivo do artigo foi investigar a percepção dos indivíduos com relação ao uso da bicicleta como meio de transporte no município de Palmas, capital do estado do Tocantins. O estudo utilizou uma pesquisa de atitude com alguns fatores relacionados a escolha da bicicleta como meio de transporte. A aplicação dos questionários ocorreu entre 29 e 31 de setembro de 2017 em três pontos distintos da cidade: Plano Diretor, Taquaralto e Aurenys, foram aplicados 400 questionários. Os principais resultados apontaram que as pessoas utilizam a bicicleta como meio de transporte; que o seu uso faz bem para a saúde e que é um transporte barato. O sexo masculino tem maior aceitabilidade quanto ao uso.
